Our Reputation and Recent Representative Work
Osler once again received the coveted
top tier ranking for Corporate/M&A in the recently released 2012 edition of
Chambers Global: The World’s Leading
Lawyers for Business which notes that Osler is “acclaimed for its deep
bench.” Osler’s Corporate/M&A practice has now received this Tier 1 ranking
for over a decade. Osler also had over 70 individuals recognized for their
expertise across 16 categories.
Osler was mentioned in three of
Lexpert’s “Top 10” deals of 2011, including the No. 1 deal of the year: Rocks, Rocks, Rocks: Barrick Takes Equinox.
Osler’s corporate team welcomed two
new partners on March 1, 2012: Christopher Main (Montréal) and Evan Low
(Calgary).

Recent transactions in which we have
been involved include:
- URS Corporation in
its $1.5 billion proposed acquisition of Flint Energy Services Ltd.
- Nexen Inc. in
the sale of a 40% working interest in shale gas assets in the Horn River,
Cordova and Liard basins in
northeast British Columbia to a consortium led by INPEX Gas British
Columbia Ltd. and in the creation
of a strategic partnership to develop those shale gas assets.
- Winsway Coking Coal Holdings Ltd. and Marubeni Corporation in their $1 billion acquisition of Grande Cache Coal Corp.
- Dundee REIT on its $608 million acquisition
of Whiterock Real Estate Investment Trust.
- Hydro One, Inc.
in its
issuance of $300,000,000 3.20% Series 25 Notes due 2022
- The initial
purchasers in
connection with the Rule 144A offerings by Golden Credit Card Trust of $450 million of 1.77% credit card
receivables-backed senior notes and $500 million of floating rate credit card receivables-backed
senior notes
- The underwriters in a $237.5 million offering of Cumulative
5-Year Rate Reset Preferred Shares, Series K by
Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited
