Purdy Crawford was a recipient of the 2012 Lexpert® Zenith awards at a gala ceremony held in Toronto on October 11, 2012. Celebrating leadership through innovation, the award acknowledges lawyers who’ve been change-agents for forty or more years, for their clients, firms, companies, departments, faculties, profession, colleagues and/or communities. To quote Lexpert, “Albert Schweitzer said setting an example is not the main thing in influencing others; it is the only thing.”
As counsel to Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP Purdy epitomizes this principle of setting an example to others. During his outstanding career, Purdy “led Canada’s financial community through a period of significant upheaval, the asset-backed commercial paper crisis. He was the lead negotiator on the successful restructuring of $32-billion of non-bank Canadian third-party ABCP, a deal that unfroze Canada’s credit markers. He also chaired a national panel on a potential national securities regulator in Canada,” as announced by Lexpert in the October 2012 cover story, Zenith Awards.
On behalf of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, congratulations Purdy!
