Biography
As a Patent Agent, Laurence’s practice focuses on patent
issues relating to mechanical engineering matters. She drafts and prosecutes
patents and industrial design applications in the United States, Canada and
Europe. She also takes part in the preparation of validity opinions, freedom to
operate analysis, and prior art searches in various high technology areas.
Laurence received her engineering degree from École Centrale de Lyon, and M.S.
and Ph.D. in Aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology under a
Rotary fellowship. She has extensive knowledge in computational fluid mechanics
and fluid-structure interactions. Her interdisciplinary training leads her to
specialize in mechanical aspects of medical devices and in biological flows.
Laurence
conducted microfluidics research at McGill University as a FQRNT Post-Doctoral
Fellow. Her academic work has been recognized internationally, which lead her
to obtain a patent on the cardiac pump she developed during her doctoral
studies.
