2024 Summer Program
First year law students (1L)
We will be accepting applications from candidates who are currently enrolled in their first year of law school or second year of a four-year joint degree program.
Eligible candidates should submit an application that includes their resume, cover letter, copies of all official post-secondary transcripts (including law school) and a list of proposed upper year courses through the online portal. Please address your cover letter to Alison Bennett, Director, Talent Management.
The recruitment of first year summer students is governed by the guidelines established by the Law Society of Alberta.
The key dates for the 2024 1L Summer Student Recruitment Drive are as follows:
- Application Deadline: The application deadline for 2024 1L Summer Student position is Monday, January 29th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MST
- Intent to Call (“ITC”): An ITC email will be sent to those students who will be advancing in the recruitment process to advise that we will be reaching out on the LSA prescribed “Call Day” (see below) to make arrangements for second round interviews.
- Call Day: In accordance with the LSA recruitment guidelines, Call Day will be taking place at 5:00 p.m. MST on February 5th, 2024.
- Interview Week: Interviews will be taking place from February 20 – February 23th, 2024. Candidates meeting with Osler during Interview Week should reserve 30 minutes for their first interview. Subsequent interviews will be roughly 60 minutes in length.
- Offers: In accordance with the LSA recruitment guidelines, offers of employment may not be communicated before 5:00 p.m. MST on February 23rd, 2024. Offers are open for 24 hours.
Second year law students (2L)
Application Deadline
As the recruitment process for 2nd year law students concluded in October 2023, we will only be accepting applications from those who are currently enrolled in their first year of law school or second year of a four-year joint degree program.
2023/2024 Articling Program
As we have a full complement of articling students for 2023/2024, we are not accepting applications for articling positions.
