Osler partner Manny Pressman tells Financial Post that businesses are prepared to “reset the M&A button” and re-evaluate their growth strategy, as Canadian deal-making picked up in the fourth quarter of 2020 after falling off amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The article explains how deal-making fell to a nine-year low in 2020, but the fourth quarter was the most active in terms of announced deals in at least five years. “We’ve seen this glut of M&A activity in the fourth quarter as a result of this reset,” Pressman tells Financial Post, adding there is also a meaningful pipeline of activity across a range of sectors.
