Former Osler Chief Client Officer and champion of women in business Colleen Moorehead has been named as the 2024 recipient of the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association’s (CVCA) Ted Anderson Community Leadership award.
The award honours an individual who has given a “remarkable commitment of time and effort to a community organization or cause.”
Colleen is the founder of Ontario’s largest event in support of women’s health: the Women for Women’s luncheon. Begun in 2011, the annual event has raised more than $6 million in support of Women’s College Hospital (WCH). Championing causes related to women’s health, Colleen has served as a member of the Women’s College Hospital Foundation’s advisory board, is former vice-chair of the Campaign for Women, is a founding member of the foundation’s 100 Women initiative and she helped spearhead a $1 million fundraising campaign for a Direct Rapid Genetics Testing study co-led by WCH.
Additionally, she has served on the boards of Covenant House and Artscape in Toronto.
As one of the founders of the Judy Project, Colleen helped create a business initiative that supports women executives looking to progress in their careers to C-suite positions.
In her professional career, Colleen co-founded E*TRADE Canada, worked in investment banking and held many leadership positions on a variety of corporate boards. Before retiring from Osler in 2023, she was responsible for implementing Osler’s client-focused business development strategy.
Colleen edited the best-selling book The Collective Wisdom of High-Performing Women, Leadership Lessons from the Judy Project.
Colleen received the award during the Invest Canada Awards Breakfast on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
