The Advocates’ Society (the society), led by Osler partner Sonia Bjorkquist, is looking at ways to improve the efficiency of the court system through technology, according to an article in Law Times. As part of this process, the society is set to hold a symposium to examine ways courthouses can become community hubs for lawyers and litigants. Sonia, the National Chair of Osler’s Litigation Practice Group and the President of the Advocates’ Society, explains why this would “improve access to justice.”
“This improves access to justice in a holistic sense,” Sonia tells Law Times. “On technology, the society is always looking for ways to improve efficiencies in the court system and thereby improve access to justice.”
The article goes on to describe how the society is also looking at how courtrooms can use technology to make proceedings paperless and more efficient.
