Mary is a partner in Osler’s Litigation Practice Group in Toronto and is cross-appointed to its Taxation Group. Mary is a formidable advocate whose commercial litigation and tax disputes practice focuses on representing clients in complex and business-critical matters to find pragmatic solutions. Mary has significant experience defending clients in tax appeals, insolvency proceedings, contract disputes and other commercial disputes. She has appeared in the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Divisional Court, the Ontario Superior Court, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, the British Columbia Supreme Court, the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, and the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador. She has also acted as pro bono counsel and amicus in multiple Ontario courts as well as in the UN dispute resolution system.
Pooja is a partner in our Taxation Group in Toronto and specializes in advising on tax litigation and dispute resolution matters. She has appeared in significant cases at all levels of court and routinely represents clients in disputes before the Canadian tax authorities. In addition to tax controversy matters, her practice also includes advising on general corporate tax matters and on Canadian tax issues particular to insurance organizations. Pooja is an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, and has lectured at Osgoode Hall Law School. She has also authored articles on a wide variety of topics regarding federal income tax matters and is a contributing editor of Tax Litigation and the Toronto Law Journal.
