Osler is proud to congratulate Melanie Gaston on her appointment as a judge of the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta.
Melanie Gaston joined the firm in 2015, as a litigation partner focusing on complex commercial litigation and arbitration, with an emphasis on construction, energy, insolvency, product liability and commercial leasing disputes. Melanie has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and in international and domestic arbitrations, as well as before mediators and various administrative tribunals.
“Melanie is a talented litigator, who has always advocated effectively for our clients, mentored and inspired junior lawyers, and made a great contribution to our Firm and the community,” says Sonia Bjorkquist, Osler’s National Chair, Litigation. “Congratulations to Melanie on her appointment, and we wish her all the best in her judicial career.”
Throughout her legal career, Melanie has contributed her time as a board member for the Calgary Bar Association, Association of Women Lawyers, and the Calgary Boys and Girls Clubs as well as other community and pro bono causes. She has been recognized by Chambers Canada, Lexpert and Benchmark Litigation Canada.
