The power industry across Canada is very diverse, complex and ever-evolving.  Each province has its own unique market and regulatory features.  Ontario is Canada’s largest power market and has experienced the most significant changes over the past 15 years. For our Canadian and cross-border clients with interests in the power industry in Ontario and other provinces, depth of experience in both the commercial and the regulatory aspects of the power sector is essential for projects of all sizes.

Osler is delighted to announce that Richard King has joined our energy (electrical power) practice.

Richard’s regulatory expertise in advising clients on power project development, power and gas regulation and power trading is highly regarded among industry participants. He advises distributors, transmitters and generation project developers on all regulatory aspects associated with their day-to-day business and new project development. Particularly noteworthy is Richard’s Aboriginal consultation experience as it relates to the development of large natural resource projects (including power projects). Richard has been counsel to Ontario’s only First Nation–owned transmission company (Five Nations Energy Inc.) for over a decade.
