Osler is pleased to announce that 23 of its lawyers have been named as leading corporate lawyers in Lexpert’s Canada’s Leading Corporate Lawyers (June 2014). This report confirms Osler’s position as a leading Canadian firm in corporate law.

We congratulate the following lawyers on their selection, by their peers, as being among Canada’s foremost practitioners in this area:

Selection for the Special Report is based on Lexpert’s annual peer surveys, which identify the leaders in Canadian law practice in key markets and across more than 60 practice area specialties.

The article also quotes Manny Pressman (co-chair of the firm’s M&A Specialty Group), who discusses the role of Canadian regulators in the context of M&A: “Sellers want to know a deal is going to close. When regulatory uncertainty is injected into the deal calculus, it presents a mitigating factor on deal volume,” he says.

In commenting on retail M&As in Canada, Douglas Bryce (partner at the firm) says, “2013 may well have been an outlier year. ... There’s a shrinking pool of large Canadian-owned retailers left and that fact alone is going to put a ceiling on deal volumes.”
