Osler is pleased to welcome May Cheng as a partner in our leading National Intellectual Property Practice Group, as we continually enhance the strength of our team. May joins an integrated IP team that offers clients technical expertise, deep legal experience and business-savvy counsel on a wide range of IP matters.

A Certified Specialist in Intellectual Property Law (Trademark/Copyright), May is dedicated to helping clients realize and maintain the value of their IP assets. She brings more than 20 years of experience in IP practice, including advising on high-end commercial licensing agreements, and is extremely experienced in trademark litigation and prosecution. She has a strong anti-counterfeiting practice and is frequently involved in injunctive proceedings and appeals to the Federal Court of Canada in trademark disputes and counterfeiting cases.

Highly ranked by top industry guides and publications, May has received a number of honours and awards, including being named an IP Star (2014, 2015, 2016) by Managing Intellectual Property Magazine. She is listed in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2016 for Intellectual Property, and, since 2013, has earned a Silver Ranking for both anti-counterfeiting and trademark enforcement expertise from WTR 1000 – The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals. She is also actively involved in the legal and broader community, including acting as Co-Chair of the Ontario Bar Association Institute Committee (2015 - 2017).
