Osler’s Douglas Rienzo receives 2016 Lexpert Zenith diversity award

Jun 21, 2016

Osler is proud to announce that partner Douglas Rienzo has won a 2016 Lexpert Zenith Award for his leadership and accomplishments in supporting and promoting diversity and inclusion. The Lexpert Zenith Awards: Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion recognize those who demonstrate excellence, action and thought leadership, which advance diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and society.

Douglas has been the Chair of Osler’s Diversity Committee since its inception in 2010. Under Douglas’s leadership, the Diversity Committee spearheaded the expansion of parental leave benefits for associate lawyers, and laid the groundwork for the establishment of three employee resource groups at Osler, for women lawyers, LGBTQ lawyers and their allies (for which he is the partner liaison), and lawyers with ties to the Asia-Pacific region.

Also under Douglas’s guidance, Osler was one of the first Canadian law firms to conduct a demographic survey of its lawyers and staff. Initiated in 2012, the survey provides data that helps Osler develop diversity and inclusion initiatives that respond to the needs of our firm and increasingly diverse client base.

Osler holds a longstanding commitment to inclusion in both our policies and in practice, and has recently been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers (2016). We are extremely proud of Douglas’s achievements in supporting diversity within the legal industry, our firm and the communities we serve.
