Jan 25, 2017

The Law Society is now accepting applications for Canada’s first certified specialization in Indigenous Legal Issues, according to an article in the Gazette. Launched in June 2016, the Indigenous Legal Issues program is the sixteenth speciality area available from the Certified Specialist Program.

The new program was developed by the Certified Specialist Board, which includes Osler IP partner May Cheng. The article states the program was created to “support the Law Society’s competence mandate and strategic priority to better meet the legal needs of Indigenous Peoples” and was established in partnership with subject-matter experts and leading practitioners from across Ontario.
