Osler advises on $1 billion of record-breaking $3.3 billion in VC financings in 2017

Osler is proud to have advised on $1 billion in venture capital financings in 2017, representing 30% of the record total funding last year. A recent MoneyTree Canada report by PwC and CB Insights revealed that VC-backed companies in Canada raised a record-breaking $3.3 billion in investment funding in 2017, up from $3.1 billion the previous year. Osler advised on 133 deals last year, representing 40% of the 333 total deals noted in the report. The average deal size increased by 31% from 2016, and FinTech and Artificial Intelligence both saw strong funding levels.

Osler advised on five of Canada’s top 10 venture capital financings in 2017, as reported on The PE Hub Network, including the largest financing of a local IT company in 25 years (Lightspeed POS) and the largest round on record for an Artificial Intelligence startup (Element AI).
