Osler congratulates partner Roger Gillott for being made a Fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America (CLSA). The CLSA is an invitation-only international honorary society, composed of preeminent lawyers specializing in construction law and related fields. The society  is dedicated to promoting advocacy and ethical standards in construction law and has an exclusive membership of 1,200 practising Fellows from the U.S. and across the globe.

Fellows are selected based upon excellence and accomplishment in construction law and closely related specialties, from the transactional level to trial and appellate levels, as well as for their superior ethical reputation. According to the CLSA website, Fellowship selections are made based on a combination of Fellow input, internal research, nominations by Fellows, attorney opinions, evaluation of client selection of counsel, limited input from acting and retired judges, and reviews of acknowledgement and recognition by other peer reviewing resources and associations.

Roger, a partner in Osler’s Litigation Group, is consistently recognized in industry publications as one of the leading construction lawyers in Canada. He has practised exclusively construction litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution for 20 years.  Roger has extensive advocacy experience in trial, appellate and arbitration proceedings, and also advises on the avoidance and management of risk in the administration of construction contracts. Roger has developed particular expertise in the area of tendering and procurement in both the public and private sectors. He has represented clients in a wide variety of disputes involving construction liens and trusts, mortgage priorities, contract interpretation, bidding and tendering, delay and extras claims, professional negligence and claims under performance and payment bonds. Roger has also dealt with the interpretation of specifications, ownership of design drawings and environmental claims and prosecutions. Roger is listed in the Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, 2018.
