Brian brings over 22 years of legal experience as well as a strong history of community leadership to the role. In his legal practice, Brian focuses on the managerial side of employment and labour issues and assists clients on a wide range of privacy matters. Brian’s community work includes serving as Chair of the Calgary Police Commission (Commission), as well as sitting on the boards of the Calgary Police Foundation (Foundation), and Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta. Over the past four years, Brian has contributed hundreds of volunteer hours toward making Calgary a better place to live and has helped set the foundation for a safe and resilient community for many years to come. Brian was awarded the Debra Dean Award for outstanding contribution for his previous work on the Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta Board of Directors.

Through his many years of legal experience and community leadership, Brian brings a multi-faceted understanding of our client base and the complex issues facing companies today. Brian will continue his full employment and privacy practice leading Osler’s Western Canadian employment and privacy practice in Calgary and Vancouver.

Brian will succeed Colin Feasby, QC, who has been Managing Partner of the Calgary office since 2017.

“Brian has a distinguished record of community service and is a leader in the fields of employment and privacy law,” Colin says. “Brian’s understanding of business in Western Canada and client-service ethic make him a natural choice to lead Osler Calgary. I am confident that under Brian’s leadership, Osler Calgary will be the law firm of choice for leading companies in Calgary and across Western Canada.”

Colin successfully guided Osler’s Calgary office over the last four years, including through a pivot to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic and an office move as Managing Partner, while maintaining his active litigation practice. Colin brought integrity and excellent judgement as the Calgary office continued to grow during his tenure. He continues his very successful commercial litigation practice at Osler, specializing in corporate and securities litigation, energy industry disputes, insolvency/restructuring litigation and constitutional matters.
