Osler’s APAN joins forces with FACL for annual speed mentoring event

Mar 16, 2021

On February 24, 2021, Osler’s Asia-Pacific Affinity Network (APAN) collaborated with the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers to hold the annual FACL-APAN Speed Mentor-A-Thon. Close to 100 law students, articling students and lawyers participated in this year’s event which was hosted virtually through Zoom, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

After listening to opening remarks by Gerald Chan, President of FACL, and Osler partner Richard Wong, attendees moved into the mentoring portion of the event, where students met with lawyers from diverse backgrounds and practice areas for meaningful conversations. Participants were assigned to breakout rooms to have one-on-one meetings and every 15 minutes, the mentees rotated to a new room to meet with a different mentor.

The event was an evening of community, connection and mentorship – and a massive success. Students gained the opportunity to expand their professional network and build valuable relationships with members of the legal community.

APAN is co-led by Osler associates Jasmyn Lee and Eric Choi. For more information about FACL, visit the organization’s website.
