Cryptocurrency companies in the U.S. are showing an interest in establishing subsidiaries in Alberta, Osler ‘s Matthew Burgoyne, partner, Corporate, and Co-Chair, Digital Assets and Blockchain, told The Logic in an interview.

Matthew says Alberta is an attractive destination for crypto companies, thanks to its affordability, friendlier regulatory environment and low corporate taxes.

Alberta has taken steps to attract crypto companies to the province, pitching itself as a more business-friendly jurisdiction for startups to set up shop. The Alberta Securities Commission has grown its staff focused on registration in light of continued interest from crypto companies.
