Congratulations to Lauren Tomasich and Colena Der on being named 2022 Lexpert Rising Stars: Canada’s Leading Lawyers Under 40.
The Lexpert Rising Stars awards recognize private practice and in-house lawyers who are emerging leaders in the Canadian legal community. Winners are selected by a distinguished advisory board, which considers the contributions that nominees make to their firm, company or department, as well as to the profession and larger community.

Lauren Tomasich is a partner in Osler’s Litigation group in Toronto. With a track record of leading sophisticated mandates for top-tier clients, her commercial litigation practice has a particular focus on commercial arbitration, corporate and securities litigation and white-collar defence and enforcement proceedings.
Lauren’s passion for supporting her community and helping others is palpable. She has participated in a wide variety of fundraising events and community initiatives, supporting causes such as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, CANFAR, SickKids and the Ride to Conquer Cancer. As a mentor to younger lawyers and through her work with several organizations, Lauren is a leader in the Canadian arbitration community and is shaping the future of the profession.
Colena Der is a partner in the firm’s National Tax Group, practicing out of our Calgary office. She advises Canadian and foreign-based clients on the taxation of mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and employee and executive compensation matters, with an emphasis on the resource, emerging companies and technology sectors.
Colena is passionate about supporting young and aspiring lawyers and frequently participates in initiatives for students interested in the legal field. She is also a regular supporter of Beyond A, an organization dedicated to destigmatizing anxiety and empowering lawyers. Colena also plays an integral role in recruiting and mentoring associates and summer and articling students in her role as Co-Chair of the firm’s Calgary Student Committee.
Winners were announced last night at a ceremony in Toronto.
