Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt is pleased to announce that Martin Ignasiak, partner, Regulatory, Environmental, Indigenous and Land, has been appointed as Queen’s Counsel (QC).

The Queen’s Counsel designation recognizes Canadian lawyers for exceptional merit and contributions to the legal profession. The history of Queen’s Counsel in England dates back to the 16th century, with the practice of appointing Queen’s Counsel continuing in Canada and predating Confederation. Our country’s first Queen’s Counsel appointees were admitted in Upper Canada in 1841.

“The appointees receiving the Queen’s counsel designation this year help set the standard for service to Albertans through our justice system,” says Alberta Justice Minister Tyler Shandro. “Their hard work is vital to providing essential legal services that make a difference in the lives of so many in our province, and it is a pleasure to grant them this well-deserved honour.”
