Osler is pleased to welcome Oleg Chayka to our Tax Group on secondment from Ukrainian law firm Arzinger. Oleg will be working out of our Toronto office through 2022.
Oleg brings extensive experience in developing and implementing effective international taxation solutions, creating effective mechanisms for repatriating foreign income to Canada, and financing foreign companies and business projects. Having worked in the international tax division of a global professional services firm in Canada for many years, he has handled issues of income taxation of controlled foreign corporations in Canada, along with providing advice on corporate and personal taxation, and preparing and auditing corporate and personal tax returns. Oleg is well-positioned to assist on European and international taxation considerations of our clients given his practical tax experience in international and M&A matters in Ukraine and Malta.
The secondment opportunity was created as part of the firm’s desire to help those in the legal profession affected by the war in Ukraine.
Oleg leads the tax group at the Ukrainian law firm Arzinger and is recognized as a leading lawyer in taxation by the International Tax Review World Tax Guide and by Chambers. He is known for supporting colleagues in the international legal community and speaks English, Ukrainian, and Russian.
