On November 16, 2022, Osler Women Lawyer’s Network (OWLN) welcomed women lawyers from across all six of the firm’s offices, and their clients, for an evening of connection and conversation. This marquee event from OWLN compliments the work the group does year-round and is part of Osler’s continuous commitment to  advancing, supporting, and promoting women in law and business.

Osler’s National Co-Chair, Maureen Killoran, KC, gave the opening remarks and encouraged the participants to share in the conversation. She spoke of Osler’s strong history of supporting women in leadership roles and discussed how advocating for women in law and supporting their professional development is an important value for the firm.

This event was also a chance to celebrate the success and achievement of extraordinary women, such as keynote speaker Jaime Vieira, the first female to coach for the Toronto Blue Jays. Jaime sat down for a fireside chat with Joyce Bernasek, partner Financial Services, and Tearney Johnston-Jones, associate, Financial Services. They discussed Jaime’s career development, the importance of championing and mentoring women, and leadership strategy.

The evening continued with a marketplace featuring highly successful women entrepreneurs who spoke about their companies.

OWLN was created by and for members of the Osler community to further the advancement of women through social and networking events, informal mentoring and coaching, pro bono and volunteer initiatives, business development opportunities, and new recruitment programs.
