IFLR Americas Awards 2021 shortlists Osler for three “Deal of the Year” awards and as “Firm of the Year” for Canada

Osler is pleased to have been shortlisted for three “Deal of the Year” awards and as the “Firm of the Year” for Canada, in connection with the 2021 International Financial Law Review Americas Awards.

Osler was recognized for our work on the following mandates:

  • Debt and Equity-Linked Deal of the Year: We advised Royal Bank of Canada in its inaugural $1.75-billion Additional Tier 1 offering of Limited Recourse Capital Notes with a team consisting of Timothy Hughes and Taylor Cao (Taxation), Rosalind Hunter, Jeremy Wu, Will Heisey and Deron Fung (Capital Markets) and Shelley Obal (Research).
  • Restructuring Deal of the Year: We advised TPG in its submission of a stalking horse bid for Cirque du Soleil’s assets in partnership with Fosun, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and Investissement Québec. Osler’s team included Sandra Abitan, Marc Wasserman and Martino Calvaruso (Insolvency and Restructuring), Shahir Guindi, Hugo-Pierre Gagnon, John Groenewegen, Sophie Amyot and Matt Oliver (Corporate), Mark Brender (Taxation), Etienne Massicotte (Financial Services), Julien Ranger (Labour & Employment and Pension & Benefits) and Caroline Stephens (Real Estate).
  • Restructuring Deal of the Year: We advised Alvarez & Marsal Canada Inc., in its capacity as Monitor of Clover Leaf Holdings Company and certain of its Canadian affiliates, in their proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act with a team consisting of Marc Wasserman and Martino Calvaruso (Insolvency & Restructuring), Dave Rosenblat and Justin Kanji (Insolvency & Restructuring), Jeremy Dacks and Karin Sachar (Litigation) and John Valley (Corporate).
