We’re looking for an Associate Director, Financial Services to join our team, and lead the financial services business within Osler Works – Transactional. 

In this unique non-partnership track position, you will plan, direct and oversee the financial services business within Osler Works – Transactional and help to build out the full service offering to internal and external clients. The successful candidate’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Work with leading legal professionals to provide clients with advice and support in the context of certain banking and financial services transactions.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of the work of other team members and provide mentorship and  training to lawyers and clerks.
  • Optimize precedent creation and retrieval, including by way of document automation, workflow management as well as other practice efficiency possibilities.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to leverage existing and future legal technologies on banking and financial services transactions.
  • Lead the implementation, maintenance and improvement of any technology specific to the banking and financial services practice.
  • Proactively create and manage playbooks, process and procedure.
  • Seek opportunities to leverage data for the banking and financial services practice, including for the development of any insights for internal and/or external use.
  • Build productive relationships with key internal stakeholders and engage with members of the Firm across diverse disciplines.

 

 

Position Requirements

Do you have what we’re looking for?

  • Be called to the Alberta, British Columbia or Ontario Bar.
  • 5 – 8 years of financial services law experience, ideally gained at a leading Canadian law firm.
  • Deep understanding of legal practice.
  • Experience with and a creative mindset towards developing and implementing processes and protocols.
  • Experience with technology implementation and leading change.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a solution-orientated mindset.
  • Proven experience managing people.
  • Strong team player.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • “Roll up your sleeves” attitude
