Osler clients are leading the way in fighting COVID-19. We are proud to work with these organizations that are developing innovative solutions to help fight COVID-19 with made-in-Canada solutions.
FLATTEN is a not-for-profit organization formed with the vision of creating a platform for collecting and providing real-time information regarding the spread of COVID-19 in Canada. It includes a broad coalition of volunteers who are data scientists, AI researchers, software developers and clinicians, and has the support of Google’s Cloud Platform, CIFAR, and the Vector Institute.
On March 23, 2020, FLATTEN launched an online platform that asks individuals to self-report their health using a questionnaire based on the best available guidance from Canadian public health agencies and other stakeholders. FLATTEN aggregates the responses and shares anonymous data publicly using an online real-time heat map. Their platform and data can be leveraged by healthcare providers, researchers, and others to help gauge the spread of COVID-19. Their efforts have been profiled by various media outlets, including CTV News and The Globe and Mail. Flatten now has 300,000 users and hopes to work with various governments to scale this application across the country.
