Overview

Check Your Blind Spot: Working Effectively Through Bias

Diversity in communication style, perspective, and thought is foundational to developing creative, engaged and flourishing workplaces.  Sounds simple, yet this is true only if people are flexible and open to hearing messages conveyed in various communication styles, without judgment. Sometimes this means getting out of your own way, and other times this requires acknowledging and setting aside deeply held belief systems and the need to be right. Topics covered in this 60-minute session include:

  • the benefits and challenges of a diverse team in the workplace;
  • the most common traits of difficult people;
  • how to recognize and prevent cognitive bias; and
  • best practices for managing difficult people and scenarios.

Speaker

Joanne Schaefer, Professional Coach, Accredited Mediator, JSchaefer Coaching
