We are pleased to host a roundtable discussion with Mr. Pascal Lamy, former Director-General of the World Trade Organization, on Tuesday June 4, 2019 between 3.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. on the 63rd floor of the First Canadian Place at the offices of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt.

This event is being jointly held by Osler and the global communications and public relations firm Brunswick Group. It will be moderated by Riyaz Dattu, Partner, International Trade and Investment Law Group, and Peter Glossop, Partner, Competition Group. Mr. Lamy served two consecutive terms from 2005 to 2013 as Director-General of the WTO. He was Head of Cabinet for the President of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, from 1985 to 1994. He then joined Credit Lyonnais as CEO until 1999, before returning to Brussels as European Trade Commissioner until 2004. In addition to his several other positions, he currently serves on the Global Agenda Council on regional governance at the World Economic Forum and is President of the French Committee of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC).

The topics of discussion will include the breakdown of the underpinnings of the multilateral trade arrangements progressively built after WWII, the deepening rupture in the Sino-American bilateral relationship, the unprecedented crises created by Brexit, and overtly protectionist actions taken by the United States against its traditional trading partners including NAFTA partners.

Space is limited. Please be sure to RSVP at your earliest convenience.
