Overview

The Ontario Government has initiated a consultation on proposed comprehensive private sector privacy legislation for the Province of Ontario.

In a recently released White Paper, the Government sets out key features of a proposed legislative scheme that will have a significant impact on private sector and other organizations that process the personal information of Ontarians. The proposed legislative scheme includes administrative monetary penalties for contraventions of the statute of up to the greater of $10 million and 3% of an organization's gross global revenues (and the higher of up to $25 million and 5% for more egregious violations of the statute).

Join us for an interactive AccessPrivacy Deep Dive Workshop, where we will moderate a discussion designed to help organizations and trade associations understand the scope, meaning, and impact of the proposed legislative scheme, and to help prepare submissions to the Ontario government's consultation.

Representatives from Ontario's Ministry of Government and Consumer Services will be attending.
