On May 23, 2017, Citizen Hex announced the closing of its seed-stage financing round, led by Version One Ventures, OMERS Ventures, and Purpose Investments. Citizen Hex will use the proceeds of the round to build a world-class team of smart-contract programmers.

Citizen Hex is a Toronto-based Ethereum liquidity company focused on acquiring, securing and trading ERC-20 tokens. Ethereum, a successor to Bitcoin, is a platform for the creation of smart contracts and decentralized applications.

Version One Ventures provides investments to startups, primarily in SaaS and marketplace industries.

OMERS Ventures is interested in investing in early or later stage companies in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications sectors in North America.

Purpose Investments is an employee-owned Canadian investment firm with over $3.3 billion in assets under management. Purpose Investments offers ETFs, mutual funds and closed-end funds, and is dedicated to enhancing the quality of investment funds offered to Canadians.
