On August 19, 2020, Odyssey Interactive announced its launch and the completion of its US$6 million Seed financing round. The Seed round closed in April and consisted entirely of equity with investors from Golden Ventures, A16z Cultural Leadership Fund, Discord, Twitch, YouTube and Blizzard. The funding will be used to build Odyssey Interactive’s studio as well as hire developers for their office in Kitchener-Waterloo. Odyssey Interactive plans to develop mobile games that provide a sense of community and longevity. The startup intends to monetize free to download games through in app purchases.
