Research

Magnifying glass on stack of books with shelves in the background.

The Research Group at Osler is a unique resource for both our clients and our lawyers. The Group’s experience and expertise has distinguished Osler from other law firms for more than three decades.

This highly specialized Group was founded in the late 1950s by Bertha Wilson, who later became a Justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal and of the Supreme Court of Canada.

As the team charged with the responsibility of preparing significant opinions and legal arguments related to major transactions and litigation, the lawyers within the Group play an integral role on our client service teams.

The lawyers comprising the Research Group are considered “generalists” who bring a legal knowledge that is multi-disciplinary in nature, and strong analytical skills to bear in dissecting specific points of law and all manner of legal issues that arise in an opinions practice. The members of the Research Group also function as practical business advisors.
