The Canadian privacy arena will be significantly impacted by PIPEDA's new security breach notification regime. A consultation process for PIPEDA’s data breach notification and reporting regulations has been commenced through the release of a discussion paper by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISEDC). The Digital Privacy Act amended PIPEDA by establishing security breach notification requirements that will come into force once regulations are passed. The purpose of the ISEDC discussion paper is to solicit stakeholder input and views on these regulations. Written comments and responses are due by May 31, 2016.
Join us on April 25th for an AccessPrivacy workshop that will facilitate a moderated discussion to inform stakeholder response to the ISEDC discussion paper.
John Clare, Director, Privacy & Data Protection Policy, at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, has been invited to attend the workshop.
