Uber Technologies Inc. v. Heller: Implications for Arbitration and Employment Law

On June 26, 2020, the Supreme Court of Canada released its eagerly awaited decision in Uber Technologies Inc v. Heller (Heller). In the decision, the Supreme Court held that Uber’s arbitration agreement with its drivers was unconscionable and therefore invalid. The webinar will be presented by Geoff Hunnisett and Lauren Tomasich (arbitration practitioners, and partners in Osler’s litigation group), and Steven Dickie (a partner in Osler’s labour and employment practice), and will consider the Supreme Court’s decision as it pertains to arbitration clauses, and its labour and employment implications.
