Irene Li graduated with a J.D. degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law (U of T Law), having completed her first year at Queen’s University Faculty of Law. She is a top 10 schools oralist in the Laskin Moot Court Competition, finalist in the Mergers and Acquisitions Case Competition with Fasken, and semi-finalist in the Hicks Morley Labour and Employment Moot.
During law school, she coached mooters for the Laskin Moot Court Competition 2024, supported a technology start-up through the U of T Law Innovation and Entrepreneurship Externship, and researched the impact of generative artificial intelligence on the legal landscape for law professors. She worked as a research assistant for a technology law firm and Queen’s University Faculty of Law. She provided legal research support to several legal professionals while managing all operations of the Queen’s Law Journal during the summer. She was also a clinical legal extern in the Torys LLP Mergers and Acquisition Litigation Externship, editor for the Queen’s Law Journal, and radio broadcaster for Pro Bono Students Canada.
Before law school, Irene worked for a start-up biopharmaceutical company where she drafted and revised the Employee Confidentiality Agreement and Employee Handbook. She was also twice selected as a semi-finalist in the Great Canadian Sales Competitions where she analyzed case studies for companies, FreshBooks and Bunzl, to pitch their services as solutions to their clients’ business problems.
