Martha is a partner in Osler’s National Tax Department based in Toronto whose practice focuses on tax controversy and litigation.
Martha represents clients on a wide range of tax disputes, from transfer pricing, tax avoidance and foreign tax credits to residence for tax purposes, taxable employment benefits and GST/HST issues, as well as in administrative and procedural cases.
Ranked Band 1 in Tax: Litigation by Chambers, Martha is one of Canada’s most experienced and highly regarded tax litigators. She appears regularly before the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and other trial and appellate courts, and manages disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial tax authorities.
Outside the courtroom, Martha has lectured at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law. She has coached teams in the Donald G. Bowman National Tax Moot since its inception in 2011.
Prior to joining Osler, Martha led the tax disputes group at a national law firm.
