Staying safe and being vigilant – Osler’s response to the COVID-19 virus

Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

With the situation surrounding COVID-19 rapidly evolving, Osler is committed to ensuring our clients continue to receive the same high-quality legal services to which they are accustomed – wherever we or they are.

We have put in place physical distancing measures to help ensure the safety of our personnel and the continued seamless delivery of legal services to our clients.

Working remotely

We have implemented fully remote workplaces, supported by robust technology that ensures that we all remain connected and working as one team.  We believe this important step is needed to help support public health efforts in connection with COVID-19 while helping to ensure that we continue to provide excellent client service and business coverage without disruption.

We intend to maintain a very high level of business continuity during this uncertain period and we are confident that the plans we have implemented will ensure this.

Established task force

We have set up a task force at the senior operational level to ensure that we are taking the appropriate steps to prepare and provide support to all stakeholders. Our task force is in daily communication to monitor and address global and local developments. We regularly review best practices and provide communication updates.

Restricted travel

We have adopted full travel restrictions and quarantining protocols for Osler personnel, and will continue to implement workplace practices consistent with recommendations from public health authorities.

Reviewing conferences, meetings and events

In light of developments related to COVID-19 and in response to recommendations from public health authorities, our client centres are closed until further notice. We will be hosting client meetings and special events using video conference and webinar facilities. We have teams of specialists who are providing assistance to ensure that meetings run smoothly.

We have been implementing many new technologies over the past few years that have advanced our ability to provide legal services electronically. That suite of software and AI technologies will help facilitate client business activities, such as closings and the exchange of signatures, without the need for in-person meetings.
