COVID-19 and using Legal Technology and Osler Works remotely

Mar 19, 2020

For further information, please contact any member of our Osler Works - Transactional team.

As many businesses are largely shifting to remote working during this difficult time, we want to remind you that Osler has various tools available to assist with remote working and business continuity.

DocuSign

DocuSign is an e-signature tool that Osler uses to distribute documents for signature electronically. Regardless of where you are, you can use DocuSign to easily sign documents using your laptop, phone or tablet. Signing a document using DocuSign does not require you to have a DocuSign account. Osler can track the status of documents and ensure that DocuSign sends out auto-reminders to those signatories who have yet to sign.

How DocuSign works:

  • When Osler sends documents for signature to you through DocuSign, you will receive a secure email asking you to review and sign the documents.
  • If you are using DocuSign for the first time, DocuSign will prompt you to select a pre-written signature, or to draw your own signature from your mobile device.
  • Once you have signed the documents, Osler is alerted, and we will both receive an email with the applicable signed documents for our records.

Kira

Kira is a machine learning technology that enhances the provision of legal due diligence services. For pertinent clauses like force majeure provisions,  Kira can analyze and extract these provisions across a set of documents, which can enable more effective and efficient review. Osler has its own private cloud for Kira and can assist you through Osler Works Transactional.

If you need support identifying contract issues such as those relating to force majeure and business interruption as our businesses experience the significant disruption related to COVID-19, please reach out to your Osler partner.
