Alyssa has completed her second year of the J.D. program at the University of Alberta. Prior to law school, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta with Distinction in English and Gender Studies. Before pursuing an academic career, Alyssa trained as a professional ballet dancer with Canada's National Ballet School and the School of American Ballet in New York, NY.

In law school, Alyssa acts as the President of the Law Students' Association and works as a Research Assistant for Dean Paul D. Paton. Additionally, Alyssa represented the University of Alberta at the Wilson Moot 2018 with her team, where they won First Place Overall and she placed as a Top Ten Oralist. Within her faculty, Alyssa is involved in many different capacities and student groups such as sitting on the Strategic Planning Committee, working with Career Services on the Student Articling Committee and directing dance for the annual charitable cabaret, "Law Show."
