Frédéric has a broad litigation expertise with a strong focus on white-collar defense and class action matters. He advises predominantly corporate clients, public issuers, market participants and institutions in a wide range of investigations, fraud and other financial crime matters, including foreign corruption. Frédéric is regularly involved in enforcement proceedings involving various regulators and public bodies as well as in competition and securities class actions across various industries.

An important component of Frédéric’s practice includes acting as a trusted advisor with regard to anti-corruption, sanction, governance, compliance and prelitigation advice.

Frédéric also represents clients in employment and labour disputes and highly complex commercial litigation involving constitutional, public and administrative law.

Frédéric has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, Québec Court of Appeal, Québec Superior Court, Court of Québec and before courts in the province of Ontario as well as various regulatory and administrative tribunals.

Above and beyond his active practice, Frederic is also very involved in the legal community notably as founder of the Québec division of the Young Advocates’ Standing Committee, a division of The Advocates’ Society.

    • Acted or acting for financial institutions, public and private companies as well as executives in various investigations involving allegations of corporate wrongdoings, including fraud, securities violations, and foreign corruption

    • Acted in the context of the first Canadian DPA proceedings (remediation agreement) between Crown prosecutors and a major engineering, procurement and construction company

    • Represented or representing public companies and certain of their directors and officers in different proposed national securities class actions, including stemming from short seller reports or penal charges laid by a securities watchdog

    • Representing independent auditors of a public company in the context of a proposed national securities class action

    • Represented a financial institution in relation to its defence against a class action in connection with the liability of financial institutions in a context of an alleged Ponzi scheme

    • Representing a Canadian gasoline, oil, and natural gas producing and exporting company in relation to its defence against two class actions based on alleged contraventions to the Competition Act

    • Representing a digital media and marketing solutions company in a certified class action seeking to sanction a commercial practice and a billing policy that could run counter to the unilateral right to terminate a service contract

    • Represented pharmaceutical manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors in connection with administrative investigations conducted by public bodies

    • Represented defendants in the context of a proposed class action based on allegations that defendants orchestrated a fraudulent scheme in order to obtain sums from the proposed class
