Frédéric has a broad litigation expertise with a strong focus on white-collar defense and class action matters. He advises predominantly corporate clients, public issuers, market participants and institutions in a wide range of investigations and enforcement proceedings involving various regulators and public bodies as well as in competition and securities class actions across various industries.

He also represents clients in employment and labour disputes and highly complex commercial litigation involving constitutional, public and administrative law.

Frédéric has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, Québec Court of Appeal, Québec Superior Court, Court of Québec and  before courts in the province of Ontario as well as various regulatory and administrative tribunals.

Above and beyond his active practice, Frederic is also very involved in the legal community notably as founder and co-chair of the Québec division of the Young Advocates’ Standing Committee, a division of The Advocates’ Society.

    • Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec - in the context of a publicly disclosed investigation regarding one of its subsidiaries
    • Les Pétroles Irving Inc. – before the Québec Superior Court, the Québec Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada in relation to its defence against two class actions based on alleged contraventions to the Competition Act
    • Royal Bank of Canada – before the Québec Superior Court and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) in relation to its defence against a class action in connection with the liability of financial institutions in a context of an alleged Ponzi scheme
    • Shoppers Drug Mart Inc., Pharmaprix Inc. and Sanis Health Inc. – in a variety of proceedings before the Québec Superior Court and the Québec Court of Appeal regarding, notably, the powers of the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec in a context of an administrative investigation
    • The Stars Group Inc. (formerly  Amaya Inc.) and certain of its directors – before the Québec Superior Court and the Québec Court of Appeal in relation to their defence against a securities class action
    • The Stars Group Inc. (formerly  Amaya Inc.) - in connection with an investigation of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers into allegation relating to trading of Amaya shares prior to the announcement of the US$4.9 billion acquisition of Oldford Group Ltd.; including PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker
    • Yellow Pages – before the Québec Superior Court and the Québec Court of Appeal in relation to its defence against a class action regarding unilateral termination of a contract under Québec civil law
    • Fortin et al. – acted for six defendants in successfully opposing certification of a proposed class action based on allegations that defendants orchestrated a fraudulent scheme in order to obtain sums from the proposed class
