Josh advises Canadian, U.S. and international clients on a wide range of issues in employment and labour relations law, including corporate transactions, employment standards, executive compensation, privacy, human rights, workplace harassment, workplace investigations, occupational health and safety, and employee terminations. He has extensive experience advising emerging and high growth companies on how to strategically manage employment-related issues, and in connection with financing.

Josh regularly assists employers with the implementation of workplace policies, bonus plans, and other incentive compensation arrangements. He also assists with the negotiation and drafting of contractual arrangements including employment, contractor, restrictive covenant, and seperation agreements.

Josh has represented clients in a variety of judicial and administrative proceedings, including human rights applications, grievance arbitrations and wrongful dismissal litigation.

Prior to becoming an associate, Josh summered and articled at Osler. During that time, Josh completed a secondment to General Motors of Canada where he worked on labour and employment matters.

    Other Work:

    • Assists clients with negotiating favourable settlements of wrongful dismissal claims by appearing in court and mediations, attending examinations for discoveries and through written advocacy.
    • Provides strategic advice to clients facing potential discrimination and harassment complaints in order to limit legal and reputational risks.
    • Assists clients with group terminations, orderly wind downs, and exits from the Canadian market.
    • Advises employers on how to conduct thorough workplace investigations that will withstand judicial scrutiny.
    • Conducts onsite training for clients on various subjects, including workplace harassment.
    • Assists employers with labour relations management, including advocating in grievance arbitrations.
    • Advises emerging and high-growth companies on how to limit risks with respect to business-critical hiring and firing decisions.
    • Advises businesses on risks and strategies relating to the use of independent contractors and outsourcing arrangements.
