Masoud’s practice includes providing advice on a wide range of taxation issues including corporate tax planning, inbound and outbound investment, taxation of foreign affiliates, taxation of tax-exempt entities, transfer pricing and withholding tax. In addition to providing tax advisory services, Masoud also routinely assists clients with resolving disputes with the CRA which may include the preparation of notices of objection, competent authority submissions and transfer pricing penalty review submissions. He also has experience assisting with complex tax controversy and litigation matters.
Masoud joined the firm as an articling student in 2014 and completed his articles in 2015. During that time, he completed a secondment to the Ontario Securities Commission’s Derivatives Group where he assisted with the drafting of a new National Instrument relating to the segregation and portability of customer collateral. Prior to re-joining the firm in 2018, Masoud worked in the Tax Planning and Advisory department at one of Canada’s largest banks where he advised on issues related to international taxation.
