Mike Albert is an associate in Osler’s Litigation Group in Calgary and maintains a broad corporate and commercial litigation practice. Mike has experience working on a range of commercial litigation and arbitration matters, focusing on complex contractual disputes, joint ventures and other commercial arrangements, energy (oil & gas), commercial leasing, and professional liability.

Mike also has experience in bankruptcy and insolvency law. Related to this area, his practice includes representing and advising debtors, creditors, and other stakeholders in various restructuring and liquidation proceedings, including bankruptcy, CCAA, and receiverships.

Prior to joining Osler, Mike was an Associate at a global law firm. During this time, he completed a secondment with a large Canadian energy company, where he gained a valuable understanding of the legal and operational priorities from the client side, a perspective he now brings to his practice.

Mike received his Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan, where he was actively engaged in student governance and pro bono initiatives.

    • A North American manufacturer and distributor of agriculture fertilizers with respect to defending a claim for pure economic loss arising from a fire at one of its facilities*
    • A producer, supplier, and distributor of frac sand, who offers proppants for oil and gas wells in North America, respecting structural damage to one its storage facilities*
