Nelson’s practice in real estate, land use planning, development and municipal law is complimented by over a decade of professional experience as a land use and development planner in one of Canada’s largest urban municipalities. Nelson has been involved in the planning of large scale commercial, industrial and institutional developments and has experience in obtaining regulatory approvals, both provincial and municipal, required for complex land and infrastructure projects. His practice includes negotiating and obtaining subdivision, zoning and building permit approvals, including drafting zoning bylaws, development and servicing agreements, construction financing agreements, heritage protection and density transfer agreements, access easements, restrictive covenants and the drafting of other agreements arising from the subdivision and development approval processes. In addition, Nelson maintains a general commercial real estate and municipal law practice. He has appeared at municipal councils, municipal planning commissions and development appeal and building permit tribunals.
