Nithya completed her law school in India, at the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata. She has clerked at the Indian Supreme Court, handling a variety of practice areas. She has also practiced tax litigation before the (provincial) High Court at Madras, and handled tax matters before assessing authorities and appellate tribunals.

Pursuing her interest in international law, Nithya completed the Masters in International Law and Economics (MILE) program, at the World Trade Institute, University of Bern, Switzerland. While attending the course, Nithya represented the University in an international negotiation competition, and participated in several mock World Trade Organization dispute resolution competitions.

She has worked on intellectual property policies with the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development, a non-governmental body active in Geneva, Switzerland.

During her articling term, Nithya will be working with the tax department of the Calgary office.
