Patrick practises commercial law with an emphasis on insolvency, restructuring, bankruptcy, secured transactions and enforcement of debtor and creditor rights. He has been involved in complex cross-border restructurings and insolvencies. Patrick has also developed expertise in insolvency matters related to derivatives and securitization transactions, including with respect to counterparty rights and non-consolidation opinions.

    • The Special Committee of the Board of Directors and the Chief Restructuring Officer in connection with the CCAA proceedings of The Cash Store Financial Services Inc. and its affiliates
    • Brookfield Capital Partners as the replacement interim financing / debtor-in-possession lender to U.S. Steel Canada Inc.  in its CCAA proceedings
    • Walter Energy Canada Holdings, Inc. and its Canadian subsidiaries in its CCAA proceedings
    • Alvarez and Marsal Canada in connection with the CCAA/Chapter 15 proceedings of Arctic Glacier Income Fund and the sale of Arctic’s Canadian and U.S. assets to H.I.G. Capital.
    • TELUS Corporation in its agreement with Mobilicity to acquire the company pursuant to a plan of arrangement under the CBCA and in its agreement with Mobilicity to acquire the company pursuant to a plan of compromise or arrangement under the CCAA
    • Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada in connection with enforcement of secured debt and securitized assets
    • PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc. in connection with its role as monitor in the CCAA proceedings of PCAS Patient Care Automation Services Inc.
