Riley Whitlock is an Associate in Osler’s Real Estate Practice Group. He has extensive experience in acquisition, development, financing, leasing and sale of commercial real estate, including office towers and industrial, shopping centre and condominium properties.

Riley’s practice also involves joint venture, co-ownership, shareholder and general and limited partnership structures and related reorganizations, general corporate and insolvency matters.

    • Alberta counsel to Canada Pension Plan Investment Board in its $1.175-billion acquisition of a 50% interest in Canadian office portfolio from Oxford Properties Group.
    • Representing a large Calgary based private developer in the sale of private lands valued at approximately $500,000,000.
    • Alberta counsel to RBC financing co-owner’s interest in Eighth Avenue Place.
    • Purchase and financing of The Edison (previously known as Encana Place) in Calgary, Alberta.
    • Representing the developer, in the development and sale of luxury residential condominium units in downtown Calgary.
    • Representing a large Calgary based private developer in numerous development projects.
    • Brookfield Business Partners L.P. and its institutional partners, in the acquisition of Loblaw Companies Limited's gas station operations for a purchase price of approximately $540,000,000.
    • Counsel to the Receiver in connection with the sale of a large privately owned real estate company and assets with a combined debt value of $250,000,000.
