Saliha received her Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary in 2023. Prior to entering law school, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Calgary.
During law school, Saliha was elected as the Faculty of Law’s Students Union Representative from 2021 to 2023. In her role as the Student’s Union Representative for her Faculty, Saliha spearheaded multiple EDI initiatives within the law school. She established the AMANAH Scholarship in Law which is aimed towards helping new and current law students belonging to systemically marginalized groups to tackle financial barriers that prevent them from pursuing a career in law. She also organized and hosted the Faculty of Law’s first Ramadan Iftar Dinner in 2023, which is the first legal-based Iftar dinner to be hosted by any law school in Western Canada.
As an avid mooter in law school, Saliha competed on behalf of the University of Calgary in the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot in 2022. In 2023, she competed in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot that took place in Vienna. She also spent time volunteering with Student Legal Assistance.
Before joining Osler, Saliha was a legal intern at Justice Base, a registered charitable organization focussed on protecting human rights in international jurisdictions in collaboration with the UNHCR. She worked on the human rights violations in Myanmar and successfully drafted a model citizenship law to be used by the UNHCR to tackle the human rights violations as they related to statelessness and citizenship concerns in Myanmar.
