Stephan studied law at the University of Victoria. During his studies, he worked as a Research Assistant to Professor Andrew Newcombe in Contracts and International Law, and volunteered for Legal Aid BC. He also completed terms at the Business Law Clinic and The Law Centre, the University of Victoria’s legal aid clinic. As a summer student, Stephan worked for a provincial justice ministry and a provincial law society.

Prior to law school, Stephan obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta and worked as a consultant for a children’s autism service provider. Stephan is conversationally proficient in Ukrainian.
