During Terry’s 40-year career with Osler, he advised leading Canadian and international companies in executing complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions, principally in the areas of private M&A, joint ventures and strategic alliances, cross-border transactions and professional services businesses. For six years, Terry served as Managing Partner of the firm, with responsibility for business strategy and client relationship management, and as a member of the firm's Executive Committee. He also practised for several years with the firm's office in London, England.

In the later years of his career, Terry also served as Osler’s General Counsel, with responsibility for the firm’s legal affairs and risk management, including conflicts and compliance matters.  While he has retired from active practice, he continues to advise certain long-standing clients and to support Osler’s General Counsel Office as General Counsel Emeritus.
